Chapter 9: Use Technology Responsibly
“People think that humanity is so advanced. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. Yes, humans have created a lot of great technology and made great advances in science. But so many people think that all of these achievements mean that they no longer need God. That they have progressed beyond what they think are primitive beliefs. The unfortunate thing is how much truth and power they are actually giving up because they think it has to be one or the other.”
“But I still believe in God.”
“Which is good, yes. But even then, you still haven’t mastered this next principle—the need to put science and technology in its proper place and role. Too many people let technology control their life. For some, it’s just a distraction from better things; for others, it’s an addiction. They’ll watch and listen to things that degrade their spirit without a second thought, never once pausing to ask, ‘Should I be watching this?’ or ‘How is this affecting me?’
“It’s possible to allow yourself to be buried so deep in technology, or what technology provides access to, that you can turn off that connection to spiritual things altogether. It can be as powerful as a drug that overrides your ability to reason and choose. When you reach that point, you no longer have a connection to your higher frequency, or to God. You will be left in a lonely, dark void where there are only lower and lower frequencies.”
“That sounds bad.” “See for yourself.”
We stopped, and I followed Drake’s awareness. I became aware of orbs of light in the distance, near the large sphere we were traveling to. They were as large as planets, but I was able to perceive individual people within them and what they were doing. I saw them wandering in dark places, yearning for entertainment. Some people were just staring at their own hands, hoping for a phone to materialize. They were so focused on filling that desire that they were completely unaware of the glorious world filled with light that waited just beyond their perception.
“You see,” Drake continued. “Just as what you eat affects your body, the information you take in affects your soul. What you see, what you hear, what you say: all of these things influence the state of your soul when your mortal life is over. Some people will take in anything, and technology just makes it easier to do this all the time.”
“So, how do you know what is good and what is bad?”
“Your inner voice can help if you set the technology aside long enough to listen. Focus on developing your higher self, so you have a good, strong communication channel with God. Make sure that your antenna is working well, and that you are paying attention to the messages you receive. If you’re distracted all the time, it won’t matter what messages come to you because you simply won’t notice them.”
“That makes sense.”
“Understand that technology can be a powerful tool for good. Imagine having access to all of these wonderful tools and using them to enhance your life and enable a closer relationship to God. Don’t let technology be a distraction from your spiritual growth. Control it. Put it aside sometimes. Don’t sleep near it. Don’t reach for it when you first wake up in the morning. Listen to your inner voice and connect with the divine. Develop those things that you can enjoy after you die: great memories, family, friends, your relationships, and your character. All of those things persist.”
“What about games, and movies, and distractions like that?” “Entertainment is okay. Just be aware of what kind of entertainment, and how much of it you are taking in. You can enjoy dessert once in a while, but you wouldn’t eat only dessert every meal every day. That would be bad for your body. It’s the same for your soul, and, just as there are some things that you should never eat, there are some forms of entertainment that you should never consume. Those things will only harm your soul. Be aware and be wise.”
“Right,” I said, though honestly, I didn’t know how helpful that advice would be to me at the time. After all, I had already left my body behind. “What else do I need to learn?”
Drake
Drake smiled. “The next one may surprise you.”
