Queen Brunhilda

布倫希爾達女王正在她的菜園裡拔胡蘿蔔，把它們放進裙子的褶皺中，一邊工作一邊唱歌：

Queen Brunhilda was pulling carrots in her vegetable garden placing them into the folds of her dress and singing as she worked:

「我是女王，啦啦啦，我是女王，啦啦啦！而你們，我的胡蘿蔔，你們是我的臣民！快來我這裡，我的胡蘿蔔，啦啦啦！」

‘I am queen, la,la,la, I am queen, la,la,la! And you, my carrots, You are my subjects! Come to me now, My carrots, la,la,la!’

與此同時，毛茸茸的野獸躲在甜菜之間觀察著女王。毛茸茸的野獸之所以得名，是因為他確實是一隻毛茸茸的野獸，而且每當他從菜園裡偷胡蘿蔔時，女王就會追著他喊：「哦，你這個毛茸茸的野獸！」

Meanwhile, Shaggy Beast was hiding among the beets watching the queen. Shaggy Beast got his name because he was in fact a shaggy beast but also because whenever he stole a carrot from the vegetable garden, the queen would chase after him shouting: “Oh, you! Shaggy Beast!”

事實上，野獸並不需要胡蘿蔔。他只是愛上了女王，竭盡所能地吸引她的注意，這並不是一件容易的事。而且，布倫希爾達是一個戰士般的人物。傳說中，只有在決鬥中戰勝她才能贏得她的心，但很少有人敢挑戰她，因為她是一位技藝精湛的劍客。

Beast did not in fact need the carrot.He had simply fallen in love with the queen and tried everything he could to get her attention, which, it has to be said, was no easy task. Moreover, Brunhilda was a warrior-like individual. Legend had it that her heart could only by won bygaining the upper hand over her in a duel, but very few dared to challenge her since she was a consummate swordswoman.

野獸害怕布倫希爾達，不知道如何接近她。他試著戲弄她，叫她名字，偷偷拉她的裙子，但所有努力都徒勞無功。布倫希爾達總是重複同樣的話：

For some reason, Beast hoped that one day he would so infuriate the queen that she would chase after him, catch him, give him a good beating and then suddenly fall in love. There is a reason they say, ‘if they beat you, it means they love you.’

所以，野獸等待著合適的時機，當女王彎下腰時，他向她扔了一根胡蘿蔔，正好打中她的後面。

So, Beast waited for the right moment, and when the queen bent down to the ground, he threw a carrot at her which caught her right on the behind.

“Brunhilda, I’m going to drag you back to my cave with me!”

但追逐並沒有持續太久。毛茸茸的野獸運氣不好，掉進了一個坑，發出一聲巨響。顯然，這是Eejit Green和黃色潛水艇挖的那個坑。

But the chase did not last long. Shaggy Beast was unlucky and fell with a loud crack into a pit. Obviously, it was the same pit Eejit Green and Yellow Submarine had dug.

事情開始變得激烈起來。Eejit跳起來，跑到坑邊，緊握著他的棍子。

That was when things started to heat up. Eejit jumped up and ran to the edge of the pit cripping his club.

「抓住你了，你這邪惡的猛獁人！現在我要消滅你！」

“Got you, you evil mammotnik! Now I’m going to extinguish you!”

「抓住你了，抓住你了！太棒了！Eejit你這綠色的混蛋，快把我放下來！你真的以為沒有我就能拯救世界嗎？！」潛水艇仍然掛在樹上尖叫著。

“Caught you, caught you! Phenomenal! Eejit you green bastard, get me down from here, now! Do you really think you can save the world without me?!” Submarine squeaked still hanging from the tree.

與此同時，森林裡的鳥兒和動物們聚集起來，想看看這些噪音是怎麼回事。好奇地，他們向坑裡張望。坑底坐著一隻毛茸茸的生物，眼神悲傷。這隻生物似乎震驚得完全失去了說話的能力。

Meanwhile, the birds and animals of the forest were gathering to see what the noise was all about. Curious, they peered down into the pit. A shaggy creature with sad eyes was sitting on the pit floor. The creature seemed so shocked, it had completely lost the ability to speak.

Eejit示意大家冷靜下來。

Eejit gestured for everyone to calm down.

「女士們，先生們，請注意！莊嚴的時刻到了。是的，我們的世界被一個蓋子覆蓋了，但這不是結束。我們不會灰心，也不會放棄。朋友們和同事們！現在比以往任何時候都更需要我們緊密團結，為不可剝奪的權利而戰，作為自由、意識清醒的個體生活在一個系統中，這個系統用它的蓋子統治著我們，剝奪了我們最寶貴的東西——選擇的自由，其本質在於每個人都有權決定自己是否生活在蓋子下或蓋子上，是否在人的誤解和卑劣的激情中煮沸，或像海鷗一樣自由飛翔在垃圾堆上空，從高處俯瞰一切創造的本質，感知到一切事物的虛幻和脆弱，從而獲得清晰的理解，上面是上面，下面是下面，從而達到更高的啟蒙狀態，並領悟到這不可能是其他方式，因為下面永遠不能在上面，上面也不能在下面，因為這是事物不變的秩序……」

就在那時，橙色奶牛從天而降，或者說，從應該是天空的地方掉到地上。

“I’m not cute or fluffy!” the prisoner finally answered from the bottom of the pit. “I’m Shaggy Beast!! And everyone is afraid of me!”

“Is that right?” answered Cow affectionately. “Would it be okay for me to give you a lick? Come on, get out of there. I’ll give you a hand.”

“I will never forgive you for this!” she said. “You used me!”

“Okay, okay. But how else would we have caught the mammotnik?”

「那這裡又有誰呢？一副又可愛又毛茸茸的模樣？」Cow問道。

“And who do we have here, all cute and fluffy?” asked Cow.

「我哪有什麼可愛或毛茸茸的！」囚犯終於從坑底喊道，「我是Shaggy Beast！！大家都怕我！」

“I’m not cute or fluffy!” the prisoner finally answered from the bottom of the pit. “I’m Shaggy Beast!! And everyone is afraid of me!”

「是嗎？」Cow親暱地回答，「我可以舔你一下嗎？快出來吧，我來幫你。」

“Is that right?” answered Cow affectionately. “Would it be okay for me to give you a lick? Come on, get out of there. I’ll give you a hand.”

「沒有人能從那裡逃出去，也沒有人會互相幫忙，」Eejit反駁道，「此刻正是歷史性的時刻，而你，Cow，你卻破壞了那莊嚴（Note:此處指正式且肅穆的氣氛）的氛圍，插手了超出你處理能力範圍的事務。」

“Nobody is getting out of anywhere, and no one is going to help anyone,” retorted Eejit. “At the present time, a historical moment is taking place, and you, Cow, are breaking all its solemn, so to speak, pathos and intruding in matters beyond your potency.”

「你是說能力？」

“You mean competence?”

「我非常清楚我所要說的。別打斷我，請允許我繼續。在這所謂的坑底，我們有機會觀察到世界邪惡的化身。事實上，這正是那臭名昭著、令人厭惡而陰險的mammotnik，我曾多次向你描述過他那精心策劃的殘酷與狡詐。真正的問題是……」

“I am most honorably aware of what I meant to say. Don’t interrupt. So, I now have the honor of allowing myself to continue. In the depths of this so-called pit, we have the opportunity to observe the embodiment of world evil. It is in fact none other than the very same notorious, odious and sinister mammotnik of whose sophisticated cruelty and cunning I have repeatedly informed you. The real question is the following...”

再一次，Eejit不得不中斷那充滿深情的演說，因為在場的人開始互相交換眼色，低聲竊語：「女王！女王來了！」

Once again Eejit had to interrupt his heartfelt speech because those present had started exchanging glances and whispering, “The queen! The queen is here!”

Brunhilda衝進了空地，一開始四處張望，隨後目光落在Beast身上。

Brunhilda ran into the clearing.At first she looked about in amazement, and then her gaze fell on Beast.

「終於被抓住了，對吧？」

“Get caught, did you?”

「是我們抓住他的！」Submarine喋喋不休地說，「我假裝不小心卡在樹上，開始呼救大喊，他就一邊亂跑一邊趕過來，我又假裝害怕，好像他正撲向我，而我在坑的上方，他便衝了進去……啪！真的太厲害了！」

“It was us that caught him!” jabbered Submarine. “I pretended I accidentally got stuck in a tree, started calling for help, shouting, and he ran up, all shaggy, and I pretended that I was scared and he was coming towards me, as if about to pounce, and I was above the pit, and in he went ... and, wham! It was tremendous!”

「陛下，這是一件極其重要 的事，」Eejit插話道，「我們的世界正處於危急之中。唉，那威脅如濃雲般在我們頭頂聚集。這威脅來自人類的棄兒，也就是我們所稱的mammotniks，而如今，一整個敵軍成員就出現在您眼前，已被擊敗躺在您腳邊。請允許我以極度鄙夷的態度質問他，逼迫他坦白說明，他究竟如何、又為何敢用蓋子覆蓋我們的世界。」

“This is a matter of extreme importance, Your Majesty,” Eejit said joining in the conversation. “Our world is in danger. Alas, the threat has thickened in clouds above our heads. It comes from the outcasts of humanity, those we callmammotniks, and now, one of the enemy herd is here right before your eyes and lies at your feet defeated. Allow me to question him with scrupulous contempt and force him to reveal how and why he dared cover our world with a lid.”

「Eejit，我真欣賞你的雄辯，」Brunhilda說道，「不過現在已夠你嘮叨了，快把Beast從這坑裡弄出去！」

“Eejit, I appreciate your eloquence, I really do,” said Brunhilda, “only that is quite enough tongue-wagging for now. Get Beast out of this pit.”

「你是什麼意思？什麼野獸？難道我不是跟你一夥的？Mammotnik是我的獵物，我絕不允許……」

“What do you mean? What beast? I’m not with you? Mammotnik is my prey, and I won’t let…”

「你的雄辯哪去了？這根本不是那個Mammotnik，而是Shaggy Beast，他是我的。Cow，快把他從那邊弄出來。」

“What happened to eloquence? This is no mammotnik. This is Shaggy Beast and he’s mine. Cow, help him out of there.”

Beast終於被帶上地面，滿臉喜悅。

Beast was finally brought up to the surface beaming with delight.

「我的女王！這是你第一次稱我為‘我的野獸’！我太高興了！」

“My queen! That’s the first time you’ve ever referred to me as ‘my Beast’! I’m so happy!”

「你再說一句，我就親自把你埋進這坑裡！」

“One more word from you and I’ll bury you in this pit myself!”

「但請容我……！」Eejit抗議道，「這簡直是專制！你竟然質疑我的理論？這太離譜了！你正隱藏在無知的黑暗中！我的理論是無懈可擊的！」

“But allow me…!” Eejit objected. “This is an act of despotism! Are you questioning my theory? That is unheard of! You’re hiding in the darkness of ignorance! My theory is airtight!”

「好啦，Eejit，冷靜點。很明顯，這裡有些地方不對勁，」Submarine評論道。

“All right, Eejit, calm down.It’s quite clear that something does not add up,” Submarine remarked.

「不，我不能就這樣算了！我必須以最強烈的方式表達異議！」

“No, I won’t leave it like this! I wish to object in the strongest manner possible!”

「不如我們先來商量下接下來該怎麼做，」Cow建議道。

“Instead, let’s think about what we’re going to do now,” suggested Cow.

「是的，是的，就這麼辦！」聚集在空地上的所有鳥獸齊聲附和，「這個蓋子究竟是什麼？」

“Yes, yes, let’s!” said all the birds and animals who had gathered in the clearing. “What is this lid?”

「它又是怎麼來的？」 「它構成了怎樣的威脅？」 「我們要如何將它除去？」

“How did it get there?” “What threat does itpose?” “How can we get rid of it?”

「大家請注意！」Brunhilda走上前道，「要弄清這個蓋子究竟是什麼，你們必須走到邊緣，好好看看它。」

“Listen up everyone!” said Brunhilda who had taken the floor. “In order to find out what this lid is, you will have to go to the edge and take a good look at it.”

「是的，是的！完全正確，我們的聰明女王！」眾人齊聲附和，「我們必須組織一次探險！」

“Yes, yes! That’s right! Our wise queen!” the others joined in. “We must equip an expedition!”

「我必須同意，這是一個極具建設性的提議，」Eejit說，「但真正的問題在於……」

“I have to agree. It is a constructive proposal,” said Eejit. “But the real question lies in the following...”

「你們的問題說得夠多了！」

“That’s enough of your questions!”

「讓我說！問題在於，到底由誰來領導這次探險 (expedition)？眾所皆知，在艱難時刻總有那些英勇的英雄，他們憑著無畏的心照亮眾人的前路，就像 Danko 的火炬一般，引領大家從昨日的黑暗走向更光明的明天，而他們……」

“Let me speak! The question is, who will lead the expedition? It’s no secret that in difficult times there have always been heroes, whose brave hearts have lit the way for everyone else, like the torch of Danko, leading them through the darkness of yesterday into a brighter tomorrow and who...”

「夠了，夠了，Eejit，把話說清楚！」

“Enough, enough, Eejit, spit it out!”

「簡而言之，我願意犧牲自己，獨自承擔這微不足道的使命……」

“In short, I am willing to sacrifice myself and take this modest mission on my own shoulders...”

Brunhilda 迅速終止了這場爭論。

Brunhilda quickly put an end to the dispute.

「聽著，沒有人會獨自領導任何人。我們——我、Beast、Cow、Submarine 和 Eejit——將一同出發。」

“Listen, no one is going to lead anyone. We will go together, me, Beast, Cow, Submarine and Eejit.”

沒有人提出異議，連 Eejit 也如此，「好吧，至少跟著我就不會迷路，」他嘟囔著說，於是眾人決定了。稍作準備後，他們便踏上了旅程。

No-one raised any objection. Even Eejit. “All right, at least with me you won’t get lost,” he managed to grumble,and at that it was decided. After brief preparations, they set out on their journey.
